Elena Gaytan Moreno

November 10, 1933 - February 1, 2022

Elena Gaytan Moreno, age 88, of Kankakee passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Citadel of Bourbonnais. She was born November 10, 1933 in Mexico, the daughter of Juan Moreno & Amanda Verela. Elena married Trinidad Gaytan in 1955 in Mexico. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2003. Elena was a homemaker/ stay at home mom. She was a wonderful cook and grandmother. She was always cooking for her grandchildren. Elena was very caring, loving, easy going, and dearly loved her family. She was a parishioner of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Kankakee. Surviving are four sons, Trinidad & Alicia Gaytan, Pablo & Guadalupe Gaytan, and Adrian Gaytan, all of Kankakee, and Pedro Gaytan of Mexico; two daughters, Luz Uribe of Washington State and Gloria & Alfredo Varela of Kankakee; forty-one grandchildren; and many, many, great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Trinidad Gaytan, Elena is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Juan Gaytan and Jose Gaytan; four brothers, Alfredo Moreno, Jose Moreno, Jesus Moreno, and Manuel Moreno; and two sisters, Ramona Moreno and Antonia Moreno. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Paul II-West Campus in Kankakee. Rev. Matt Pratscher will celebrate the Mass. Interment will be held in Mexico. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
