Luis Tinajero Alvarez

Luis Tinajero Alvarez, age 80, of Chicago passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Weiss Hospital in Chicago. He was born May 20, 1941 in Guadalajara, Mexico, the son of Jose Guadalupe Tinajero & Maria Alvarez. Luis married Maria de Jesus Olivarez Nuno on November 21, 1975 in Zapotlanejo Jalisco, Mexico. Luis worked various jobs in Agriculture and Landscaping. He became a Foreman for shipping/receiving at a Cold Storage Facility. Luis enjoyed his time as a union steward and loved defending the rights of fellow workers. He loved to talk with anyone. Luis enjoyed riding his bike to the local park and playing tennis. He loved keeping his community clean. His lawn was always well kept, and he helped his neighbors keep up their lawns as well. Luis enjoyed gardening fruits and vegetables, tinkering, and learning different trades. He used his skill and labor to help others as much as possible. Luis loved to eat. If he had a craving for a certain food, he would always make it. He also had a sweet tooth. Most of all, Luis adored his grandchildren. He was a parishioner of the Holy Cross Immaculate Heart of Mary in Chicago. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Maria of Chicago; one son, Luis Tinajero Jr. of Chicago; two daughters, Cecilia Tinajero of Chicago and Irma Tinajero & Alvara Quezada of Kankakee; two grandchildren, Mario Reyes and Xavier Reyes; five sisters, Maria del Rosario Tinajero, Leticia Tinajero, Graciela Tinajero, Maria del Carmen Tinajero, and Teresa Tinajero; four brothers, Jose Tinajero, Ruben Tinajero, Salvador Tinajero, and Rafael Tinajero; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Luis is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two sisters, Sara Tinajero and Maria Guadalupe Tinajero; and two brothers, Jesus Tinajero and Ramon Tinajero. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church-West Campus. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
