Marie Theresa Callahan-Grove (McColgan)

November 8, 1930 - March 20, 2022

Marie Theresa Callahan-Grove (McColgan) was born on November 8,1930 and passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on March 20, 2022. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, the only daughter of the late Dennis W. McColgan II and late Marie McColgan (McKenna). She lived with her parents and 4 brothers until she met John Henry Callahan. They took up residence in Park Forest, IL and welcomed 8 children into their lives. Over the years she enjoyed caring for her large family, pottery and working at AT&T for 25 years. She retired early and moved to Vero Beach, Florida, enjoying the beauty and sound of the ocean! Marie moved back up north to spend more time with her children, which was pretty much a daily or weekly get together for many, many years! So much love, laughter and wonderful times. Mother's pet dog Molly was also a very important companion in her life! Marie was a parishioner of the Catholic Churches, St. Irenaeus in Park Forest, IL and later at St. Maria Goretti, Westfield, IN. Marie is survived by children Denise Callahan, Dennis Callahan, Colleen Dumais (Tom), Kathleen Callahan, Jimmy Callahan (Denise), Bridget Callahan-Kottmeyer, John Callahan (Diana), and Patrick Joseph Callahan (deceased); brother John (Johnny) McColgan (Vero Beach, FL); and grandchildren Lea Wood Kram (Gabriel), Jacqueline Wood Brogan (Neil), Wade Callahan (Alla), Joseph (Joe) Kottmeyer (Nadia), Jack Callahan (Renee), Ryan Callahan (Ashley), Shane Housley, James (JP) Callahan (Taylor), Nicholas Callahan (Hannah), Bryan Callahan (Michaela), Lynn Callahan, Krista Slate Henry (George) as well as 16 other great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Marie was predeceased by her spouses Robert (Bob) Grove and William (Bill) Egebrecht, son Patrick Joseph Callahan, and brothers Dennis (Denny) McColgan, III (Marie's Twin), Phillip (Phil) and Joseph (Joe) McColgan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26th, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 511 N Conrad Street, Peotone, IL 60468 at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass Service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Skyline Memorial Park, Monee, IL "Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear." We love you Mother!
