Donald D. Marcotte

Donald M. “Don” Marcotte, age 79, of Manteno and formerly of St. Anne, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at River North of Bradley. Don was born September 25, 1936 in Kankakee, the son of John D. & Fleta Smith Marcotte. He married Barbara J. Koloski September 12, 1959. She preceded in him death February of 2001. On September 26, 2008, Don married Barbara J. LaMore. Don retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2000. He had been a rural carrier in St. Anne. He had also farmed and owned/operated Marcotte Towing in St. Anne. Don had also been a welder at Roper and AO Smith. He was a veteran of the US Army. Don graduated St. Anne High School in 1954. He was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church until moving to Manteno three years ago. He then joined St. Joseph Church in Manteno. He was a member of the Kankakee County Fair Board for 28 years, a member of the Moose Lodge of Bradley for 47 years, and was a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus 4th degree in St. Anne, a position he held several times. Don was a Chicago Bulls fan, enjoyed NASCAR, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Don liked working at the Kankakee County Fair and attending races at Kankakee Speedway every Friday night. He also enjoyed riding around Manteno in his golf cart. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Marcotte of Manteno; one son, Jeffrey D. Marcotte of St. Anne; one daughter, Karen L. Marcotte of Tinley Park; four step-sons, Rick (Sandy) LaMore of Bourbonnais, Randy (Renee) LaMore of Bourbonnais, Ron (Deann) LaMore of Manteno, Rob (Kelly) LaMore of Bourbonnais; two grandchildren, Jake D. Marcotte and Jenna L. Marcotte; and 12 step-grandchildren, Kyle LaMore, Kelly LaMore, Nicole LaMore, Matthew LaMore, Jacob LaMore, Kaitlyn LaMore, Paige LaMore, Colin LaMore, Emilia LaMore, Morgan LaMore, Lauren LaMore, and Ethan LaMore. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; one daughter, Denise M. Marcotte; and one sister, Patricia Kersch. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial Mass on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at St. Anne Catholic Church in St. Anne. Rev. James Fanale will celebrate the Mass. Private family inurnment will be held at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. Arrangements by Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne.
