Florence A. Ducat

Florence A. Ducat, 82, of Bourbonnais, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Miller Nursing Home where it had been her home for several years. Friends and family may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church, where she was a long time parishioner. The Rev. Jason Nesbit will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Clifton. Florence (Flo) was born September 26, 1940 at St. Mary’s in Kankakee to Alphonse and Evelyn (Smith) Boucher. She married Kenneth C. Ducat on October 15, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno. Surviving are three daughters, and one son; Anne (Alan) Ceisel of Gurnee, Amy (Bill) Burnes of Clifton, Anita (Greg) O’Connor of Columbia, and Allen (Julie) Ducat of Kankakee; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one step-sister Carol Hammond, one step-brother Ron Bouchard, six sister-in-laws, Dolores Bowers, Phyllis Stewart, Marjorie Johnson, Norma Palider, Cathie Hilgendorf and Connie King, five brother-in-laws, Dale Ducat, Ronnie Bowers, John Palider, Brian Hilgendorf and Larry King. Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, a sister-in-law, Helen Mosher, brother-in-laws, Wilbur Mosher and Bob Johnson, and step brother-in-law, Steve Hammond. Flo was a homemaker or as she would say, “domestic engineer” who stayed busy with four children, and all their endless activities. She later volunteered in the gift shop at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a member, along with Kenneth, of the River Valley Wingers motorcycle group, and was known as Antique Lady by many friends on the CB radio. She never met a person who didn’t become a friend, and generously gave money to those less fortunate; once even giving the coat off her back to a person in need. “Cold hands, warm heart” are words she would often say. She enjoyed driving her “Red Beauty”, shopping, and spending time sharing and hearing stories from her very much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later years, she found comfort in her companion cat, Mr. Whiskers, who never left her side. A special thank you to everyone at Miller Nursing Home for the love they poured into Flo; know that she loved you all. Memorials may by made for Masses at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church and for the American Diabetes Association.
