Sharon Sharlene Nottke

Sharon Sharlene Nottke, 88 of Limestone, passed away on August 7, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 30, 1937, in Juneau, Alaska, the daughter of John M. and Wilma A. (Lee) Day. Sharon married Larrin "Larry" Nottke on November 29, 1963, in Bradley. He preceded her in death on January 22,2024 after 60 years of marriage. Sharon spent many years running an in-home licensed daycare and through that touched many lives in the Bonfield community. She enjoyed keeping track of her "babysitting kids" over the years and kept an album of newspaper clippings and Facebook posts of events in her "kids" lives. Sharon was also active with the Girls Scouts, taught Bible school, and was a room mother at school. After retiring from daycare, she worked in dietary at St. Mary's Hospital where she met lifelong friends who became family. Sharon spent many years as a volunteer for a yearly camp in California, Strength For The Journey, where she became a staple in the craft tent and was beloved by all the campers and staff. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, and bird watching. Most of all she loved to spend time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Virginia (Dale) Dittus of Bonfield, David Nottke of Kankakee, Jeff (Javier Armas) Nottke of Cathedral City, CA, Lesa Hoover of Limestone, Sharlene (Jim) Parr of Kankakee, Larry (Rosalyn) Nottke of Bonfield, Kevin (Rebecca) Nottke of Greenville, IN, Heidi (Mike) Williams of Bonfield, son-in-law John Skimerhorn of Bradley, brother John Day of Juneau Alaska, half-brothers Arnold and Donald Mogseth, 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents; daughter Pamela Jean Skimerhorn; son Chris Larrin Nottke; and dear friends Jane Hirt and Judy DuMontelle. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday August 13, 2025, at Clancy-Gernon Hertz Funeral Home, Kankakee. Reverend Scott Henley will officiate the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. A private inurnment will be held at Bonfield Cemetery.
