Alan Roundtree

Alan was born on June 1, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to Floyd Moore Sr. and Ethel Mae Moore. He spent his early childhood on the west side of Chicago, where he developed a love for helping others and a passion for building and creating. During his teenage years, his family moved to Pembroke Township, Illinois, where he continued to grow and thrive. He graduated from Momence High School in 1977 and attended Lincoln College. As a young boy, Alan loved doing jobs for seniors, and his first job was at Peterson and Puritan in Momence. His dedication to helping others and his strong work ethic would shape his entire life. Alan served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for three years as a Combat Engineer and Civil Engineer. He earned numerous accolades, including the Marksman Badge, Expert Badge, and Army Lapel Button. Later in life, he became a member of NABVETS in Pembroke Township. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, faith, and purpose. A man of faith, Alan was a dedicated pe a missionary and spread the Gospel. His spiritual journey began at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where hastor in his community for over 25 years. He was a strong man of God, unafraid to bis father was a preacher, and was later strengthened at Greater Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Momence, Illinois, where he was baptized. Throughout his life, Alan was a hardworking and versatile man. He held various jobs to provide for his family—working in warehouses, driving school buses, coaching Little League baseball and basketball, and driving semi-trucks. Later in life, he also started his own construction business, Vision Complete, driven by his love for building and creating. Alan’s passions extended beyond work; he loved music, singing, art, and drawing. His creative spirit was evident in everything he did. He loved basketball and enjoyed coaching and sharing his love of the game with others. He was also passionate about singing and was a member of a quartet, where he enjoyed sharing his gift of music with others. In 1975, Alan began dating Terry Jones, and they married in 1982. Together, they shared four children: Alandria Roundtree, Alan Roundtree Jr., Terrence Roundtree, and Terrece Roundtree. He was a proud “Pops” and a mentor to many, always willing to teach, help, and support those around him. Alan’s life was marked by love, dedication, and service. He cherished his family and loved ones dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Terry Roundtree; daughter, Alandria Roundtree; sons, Alan Roundtree Jr., Terrence Roundtree, and Terrece Roundtree; grandchildren, Raelyn, Kingstyn, and Aleah Roundtree; sisters, Hattie Mae Moore and Janice Moore; brothers, David Roundtree Sr., Robert Roundtree, Floyd Richardson, Johnny B. Moore, and Harry Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Legend Roundtree; his parents, Floyd Moore Sr. and Ethel Mae Moore; grandparents, Sam Ella Richardson and John Richardson; sisters, Annie Lee Solomon, Verline Clay, Roberta Burns, and Lucinda Moore; brothers, Floyd Moore Jr., Bert Moore, Eddie Roundtree, Jerry Roundtree, and Tommie Lee Roundtree; and his beloved Aunt “Loving Duck.” Alan Roundtree Sr. was a man of faith, love, and service. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We thank God for blessing us with his presence and for the memories we will forever cherish.
