Armel Denault

Armel L. Denault, 71, of West Salem, formerly of Herscher, died Monday (Feb. 28, 2005) at the Danville VA Hospital, after an extended illness.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, West Kankakee, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Goodrich.Memorials may be made to the family wishes.Mr. Denault was a self-employed carpenter. He formerly owned Mel's Mobil Station in Bradley.He was born May 26, 1933, in Herscher, the son of Eugene P. and Perdella R. LeGris Denault. His parents are deceased.Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Cary Denault of Bloomington, Rick and Irene Denault of Moline; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Gary Ratcliff, Diane and Brad Marcukaitis, all of Kankakee; seven sisters and six brothers-in-law, June and Duane Bertrand of Kankakee, Vonnie Linneman of Bourbonnais, his twin, Ardelle and Rusty Ommen of Bradley, Angie and Ralph Alson of Joliet, Celest Schoolman of Onarga, Carol Jean and Nick Veronda of Kankakee, Arlene and Gayle Kirchner of Ashkum, John Block of Kankakee; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Vernel "Bud" and Helen Denault of Herscher, Joseph Denault of Sherman, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Soliel and Bronson Ratcliff, Jacob and Olivia Marcukaitus, Brittany, Rebekah, Garad and Caleb Denault, Carson and Lance Denault; and former wife, Carol A. Denault of Bourbonnais.Two sisters, Marilyn Block and Juanita Denault; and one grandson, Nathan Denault, are deceased.He was a volunteer at the VA in Danville, the Danville Rescue Mission, and at the Salvation Army in Kankakee.Mr. Denault served in the U.S. Air Force.He was a member of the Christian Church of West Salem. He loved to pray. Everywhere he was his life became a prayer for righteousness. He loved to sing. His favorites were "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross." His motto was "Let Go and Let God."He was very kind and compassionate and loved his family. They were his greatest treasure. He loved His Lord and Savior Christ Jesus first and foremost. He was a servant of all.He loved to watch baseball and basketball.He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
