Don Duby

Visitation for Don Duby, 60, of St. Anne, will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Joe Hayward will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anne Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. He died Thursday (Jan. 3, 2013) at his home. Mr. Duby was a retired employee of Benard Welding in Beecher, and was employed by Dow Chemical Co. for 25 years. He was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Kankakee, the son of Donald B. and Charlene Bowers Duby. He was a graduate of St. Anne High School. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Anne. He enjoyed hunting deer and bear. Surviving are his wife, the former Kelly Cook, of St. Anne, whom he married July 30, 2003; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Heather Duby, of Papineau, and Scott and Sheri Duby, of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Darrin Brumfield, of Houston, Texas; three stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Joe Nechkash, of Lincoln, Graham Nechkash, of LeRoy, and Jordan and Ashley Nechkash, of Carlock; eight grandchildren, Brett, Trevor, Morgan, Jamie, Kaylee, Tristan, Tori and Wyatt; his parents, of St. Anne; one sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Marshall Coppotelli, of Kankakee; and two brothers, Dan Duby and Darrell Duby, both of St. Anne. Don was a humble, selfless, compassionate, charitable and loyal man. He defined the word integrity, and it shined through with the way he lived his life. He was selfless and taught many what life is truly about. His character stood true and strong in each endeavor in his life. He was a loving and active husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who enriched the lives of his family in many ways. His love and leadership as a father paved a path of direction and unconditional love. His wisdom guided his children and grandchildren through life. He was a loving husband to his wife who was his best friend. Their devotion and unity built his family, which was truly what was most important to him in life. He had many beloved friends who were dear to him; he placed much value on his buddies. He was deeply involved in hot rods and cherished his friendships with all of the members of Strictly Street Rod Club and Hieland Road Hot Rod Car Club. He enriched the lives of many and influenced each that he knew. His spirit will forever be in our hearts. He will be dearly missed.
