Elaine P. Mulligan

Visitation for Elaine P. Mulligan, 91, of Bradley, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. The Rev. Anthony Nugent will officiate. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She died Thursday (Dec. 29, 2011) at the Miller Center in Kankakee. Mrs. Mulligan worked at Bear Brand Hosiery Company, where she was a steam iron kaumographer. She owned and ran the Antique Parlor in Bradley. She was also a timekeeper at the Roper Corporation. She worked in the office at Montgomery Ward, the state’s attorney’s office, circuit clerk’s office in Kankakee County and for two Kankakee attorneys. She was born May 30, 1920, in Bradley, the daughter of John T. and Della Dion Wright. Her first husband, Clifford E. Sederstrand, whom she married in September of 1941, died during World War II on June 14, 1944. Her second husband, Glenn E. Mulligan, whom she married in 1947, died Feb. 1, 2002. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, John “Jack” and Carol Sederstrand, of Dayton, Ohio, James Edward Mulligan, of Bradley, and Michael Patrick and Ronda Mulligan, of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Catherine Sederstrand (Clarence) Miedema of Bourbonnais; eight grandchildren, Robert and Amanda Sederstrand, Jill and Michael Sandman, Thomas and Emily Sederstrand, David and Chelsea Sederstrand, Christine Bergan, Matthew Mulligan, David Mulligan and Ashley Mulligan; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha Sederstrand, Jonathan and Jacob Sandman, Charlotte, Josephine, Owen, Anthony Jack “AJ” and Nathan Sederstrand; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Albert and Loris Wright, of Byron, and Donna Sederstrand, of Bourbonnais; and many nieces and nephews.
