Eleanor Denoyer

Eleanor I. Denoyer, 87, of Kankakee, died Thursday evening (Jan. 20, 2005) at ManorCare Health Services.She was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Streator, the daughter of Henry and Jane Piercy Moore. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Dr. William Cohan, now deceased, in Chicago Heights, where she graduated from Bloom Township High School.In 1935 she married John Henry Henneike in St. Anne. He died in 1969.She is survived by her husband, Sherman Denoyer, whom she married May 12, 1973, in St. Anne. She is also survived by sons, John H. (Janice) Henneike Jr. of Limestone, Ronald (Nancy) Henneike, Garry (Iris) Henneike and daughter-in-law, Norma Henneike, all of Martinton; stepdaughters, Sylvia (Tom) Alvey and Norma Jette, both of Bradley; stepson, Russell (Pat) Denoyer of Kankakee; and stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Klonowski of St. Anne.She was grandmother to Randy Henneike, Kelly Henneike, Dan Henneike, Chad Henneike and Vickie Jessie, all of Martinton, Darin Henneike, Todd Henneike and Toni Brown, all of Bourbonnais, and Jeff Henneike Caise of Atlanta, Ga. She also leaves 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, 15 stepgrandchildren, 36 step-great-grandchildren and 16 step-great-great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Raymond Denoyer of St. Anne, Lawrence Denoyer of Bradley, Albert Denoyer of Blue Island; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Casper of Bradley, Odell Clemans of Tennessee; a sister, Patricia (Edwin) Finney of St. Anne; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lynn DeWitt; a son, Robert Lee Henneike; and grandsons, Jeffery DeWitt and Bryan Henneike; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret (Vern) O'Lena and Olivette (Richard) Brasel; stepson, Gayle Denoyer; stepson-in-law, Duane Jette; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Elsey, Ethel Denoyer and Vivian Denoyer.She was a life member of the St. Anne American Legion Auxiliary Unit 842."Grandma Denoyer" was well-known in Papineau through the unnamed, unlicensed day care she held in her home for nearly 20 years.Her husband and her family were her life.Cremation rites have been accorded.There will be no visitation.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Anne Catholic Church.A memorial service will be held at a later date.Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne, is in charge of arrangements.Please sign her guestbook at clancygernon.com.
