Gerald K. Savoie

Visitation for Gerald K. Savoie, 87, of Bourbonnais, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.mThursday at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church, Bourbonnais. Father Jason will officiate. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the Maternity B.V.M. Church, or Presence Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home. He died Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015) at Presence Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home, Clifton. Mr. Savoie was retired from Ace Hardware, Bourbonnais and Domestic Laundry, Kankakee. He was born Apr. 3, 1928, in Clifton, the son of Homer and Marie Savoie. He was a graduate of the Ash-Clif High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. In the Village of Bourbonnais, he served as Trustee from 1976 to 1983 and on the Planning & Zoning Commission from 1983 to 2012. He was a devote member of Maternity BVM Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a Scout Leader for Pack and Troop 324. He was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling, and loved to tend his vegetable garden and feed the birds. He enjoyed classical music which was often heard outside his room at the Presence Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home, Clifton. Surviving are; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Savoie and Monica Reising, of Peoria, and Martin and Janet Savoie, of Mahomet; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and John Pryor, of Midlothian, Kathy Savoie, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Cecelia and Duane McKeebe, of Bonfield; sister-in-law, Rosetta Elio of Kankakee; seven grandchildren, Matt (Brian)Savoie, Marisa (Keith)Tilly, Kelly, John (Kristin) and Kevin (Kerry) Pryor, and Joseph and Lindsey Savoie; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ian and Drew Pryor and GianniTilly; two step grandchildren Elana Goldbaum and Lynn Reed; one step great-grandchild Lily Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roland, and his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Elio), whom he married Aug. 12, 1950, at St. Rose Church, Kankakee.
