Herbert Lee Gaudet Sr.

Visitation for Herbert Lee "Marc" Gaudet Sr., 56, of Kankakee, will be from 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, until the noon funeral services at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee. Pastor Randy Wilkinson will officiate. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. He went to be with the Lord Wednesday (Aug. 31, 2011). Mr. Gaudet was a lead machine operator at a manufacturing company. He was born March 2, 1955, in Chicago, the son of Emile John and Catherine Marie (Skinner) Gaudet. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Herb was a connoisseur of music, and was known for his impeccable style (which was evident by his hat and shoe collection). Herb had a very respectable presence about him. He was fun-spirited, smart, gracious and complimentary. He enjoyed editing photos, graphic design and going to church. He cherished family time, whether it was at home with his immediate family or at a gathering where he was usually the "Grillmaster." He was very gracious and would help out where needed without even thinking twice about it. He will be missed by many, and his memories will forever live on in our hearts. Surviving are his wife, the former Dawn Lade, of Kankakee, whom he married Dec. 11, 2010; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Herbert Lee Jr. and Sarah Gaudet, and Pierre Gaudet Sr., all of Renton, Wash.; one daughter, Chanelle Gaudet, of Kankakee; two grandchildren, Dai'Ajha Gaudet and Pierre Gaudet Jr.; four stepchildren, Ariele (Williams) Thornton and Roseanna Williams, both of Seattle, Wash., and Corey Lade and Robert Lacy Jr., both of Kankakee; eight sisters and four brothers-in-law, Desmonia and Samuel Reddy, of San Angelo, Texas, Gwendolyn and Charles Perry Sr., of Alexandria, La., Dorothy Gaudet-Baskin, of Kankakee, Theresa Gaudet, of Dallas, Texas, Rose and David Cook, of Chicago, Alice Shepherd and Arlene Shepherd, both of Hopkins Park, and Alicia and Leroy Love, of Bourbonnais; two brothers, Emile Gaudet, of New Orleans, La., and Alonzo "Buster" Shepherd Jr., of Dallas; 13 nieces, 13 nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Catherine Gaudet; one niece, Kendreea Hawkins; and one nephew, William Watson.
