James F. Mallaney

James F. Mallaney, 88, of Limestone Township, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2012) at his home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Goodrich, where he was a member. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Goodrich. Memorials may be made to Bishop McNamara Catholic High School or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Mallaney retired as vice president of sales from Roper Corp., Kankakee division, and was a lifelong area farmer. He was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Bourbonnais, the son of James F. Sr. and Marguerite Noonan Mallaney. His wife, the former Gloria J. LaMarre, whom he married Nov. 30, 1946, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kankakee, died Dec. 25, 2006. He attended the University of Illinois and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Roper Keyman's Club and the Elks Lodge. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren and entertaining at home. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis DeCarlo, of California, and Gregory and Mary Ellen DeCarlo, and Jim and Rosie Mallaney, all of Kankakee; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Rich Rudolf, of Manteno, Julie and Gene Nunn, of Dallas, Texas, Carolyn and Brien Nagle, of Naperville, Patty and Bill Marks, of Naples, Fla., and Peggy and Kevin O'Dowd, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 17 grandchildren, Kevin (Denise) DeCarlo, Mary Robbins, Holly (Mike) Boyd, Rob (Edie) Rudolf, Misty Rudolf, Brennan Nagle, Kaelan Nagle, Mollee Nagle, Megan (Dave) Blomberg, Jason Mallaney, Calahan Mallaney and his fiancee, Kaylee, Sean Marks, Haley Marks, Katie Marks, Colin O'Dowd, Paige O'Dowd and Maeve O'Dowd; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Danca, of Arlington Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Mallaney; three brothers, Hugh, Ed and Jack; and four sisters, Pauline Ammerman, Frances Schumn, Mary Schumacher and Margaret Fraser.
