Jane Spaulding Lehnus

Jane Spaulding Lehnus, 82, of Bradley, passed away Friday (July 10, 2015) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Bradley, the daughter of Hal Sr. and Pearl Aeicher McCleary. Jane married Fred Spaulding on Oct. 18, 1952, in Essex, and the ceremony was performed by her brother, Dr. Paul McCleary. Fred preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1991, as a result of cancer. Jane married Gale Lehnus on March 20, 1993, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Gale, of Bradley; her children, Beth (Paul) Zeedyk, Steve (Tamie) Spaulding, Paula (Dennis) Buhrmester; stepchildren, Jeff Lehnus, Laurel (Neal) Thompson, David (Jerry Comer) Lehnus; and daughter-in-law, Denise Spaulding. Also surviving are two brothers, Lloyd (IvaDene) McCleary and Paul McCleary; her grandchildren, Brian (Stacy) Spaulding, Becky (Douglas) Poza, Chad (Ann) Zeedyk, Eric (Abby) Zeedyk, Shannon Zeedyk, Sara Zeedyk, Steve (Crystal) Spaulding Jr. and Dustin (Zendy) Spaulding; step-grandchildren, Krista (Keith) Buza, Andrew Campbell, Brittani Gude and Skyler Thompson: great-grandchildren, Tyler and Amber Poza, Brock and Libby Spaulding, Hannah, David, Peyton and Andie Zeedyk, Jayden Lee Spaulding, Jennifer Zarate, Carlos Torres and Ayden Lozano; and special friend, Doris Wood. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Edgar LeVeque; an infant son; a son, Bruce Spaulding Sr.; grandson, Bruce Spaulding Jr.; brother, Hal McCleary; stepbrother, Richard LeVeque; and sister-in-law, Rachel McCleary. Jane held various jobs during her lifetime including working in the engineering department at David Bradley Manufacturing Co. as a blueprint operator, a bookkeeper at Plywood Minnesota, secretary for Soil Conservation Service, dispatcher for Bradley Police and Fire, secretary at Wesley United Methodist Church, manager of Baskin Robbins, administrative assistant at Kankakee County Soil and Water Conservation Service and cashier at Security Lumber. She attended Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School (BBCHS) and Olivet Nazarene University. She was in the first class of seniors to graduate from BBCHS in 1950. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, its women's group and the Red Hat Nanas. She loved her family, enjoyed Facebook, texting and emailing with family and friends, crossword puzzles, knitting, reading and gospel music. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until the 1 p.m. funeral services at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory in Kankakee.
