Janet E. Bushey

Janet E. Bushey, 76, of Kankakee died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Riverside Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Central Christian Church, 310 Main St. NW, Bourbonnais. The Rev. Robert Bushey, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be held at Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kankakee. She was born in Gridley, IL on April 15, 1939 to Carl and La Vera Benedict Pfeffinger. Janet married Robert Bushey, Sr. on September 28, 1955 in Kankakee. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage and family. Mr. Bushey preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and worked for Armour Pharmaceutical Company in the Sanitation Department, as a Line Cook for The Redwood Inn, and as a Custodian of Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais. Janet was an active member and Diaconate Emeritus of Central Christian Church, Bourbonnais. She served as a Diaconate, an Elder and as Wedding Coordinator. She was a faithful helper for the church and Rummage Sales. She was a past member of the Kankakee American Legion Post #85 Women’s Auxiliary where she loved playing Bingo for several years. Janet enjoyed family gatherings, flower gardening, homemaking, crocheting, ceramics, a game of cards, traveling and attending her grandchildren’s activities. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Laurence “Larry” and Vickie Bushey of Bourbonnais, James and Christine Bushey of Kankakee, and the Rev. Robert and Teri Bushey of Kankakee; nine grandchildren, Eddie (Heather) Jones, Vernette (Kurt) Karnes, Jim Bushey, Justin Bushey, Jason Bushey, Keith (Ivy) Aldridge, Katelyn Bushey, Joshua Bushey and Nicholas Bushey; and three great grandchildren Trevor Karnes, Tori Karnes and Cameron Aldridge. She is also survived by two brothers Kaywin (Evalena) Pfeffinger of Streator and George Pfeffinger of Kankakee; four sisters-in-law Evelyn Surprenant of Momence, Brenda Bushey of Bradley, Joyce Bushey of Vernon, AL and Judy Pfeffinger of Limestone; and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son John Wayne, infant daughter Susan Marie, one sister Carol Bushey, one brother Dwayne Pfeffinger, sisters-in-law Evangeline Kadow Quick and Christine Pfeffinger, brothers-in-law Arthur “Lee” Bushey, Rodney Bushey and Dennis “Mike” Bushey, Tony Surprenant, Norman Kadow. The family wishes to thank the Limestone Fire Department EMS, the staff of River North Health and Rehabilitation Center of Bradley, Provena St. Mary’s Dialysis Center, Martin’s Ambulance Service and Riverside Medical Center of Kankakee for their excellent care of Janet.
