Kevin D. Buhr Sr.

Kevin D. Buhr Sr., 43 of Bourbonnais died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home. He was born August 31, 1969 in Hazelcrest, IL the son of Donald W. & Beulah A. Smith Buhr. He married Margaret F. Gladkowski on August 15, 2005 in Jamaica. Mr. Buhr was a graduate of Northern Illinois University earning a Computer Science degree. He was the manager of “Take One Video” in Manteno that his parents owned. Later, he worked at “Court Street Ford” in Sales & Finance Department. Surviving are his wife, Margaret F. Buhr of Bourbonnais; his parents, Donald W. & Beulah A. Buhr of Grant Park; his children, Katrina, Dale Jr., Kelly, Kristina, Jacob, Megan, Kevin Jr., and Nickolas; one sister, Brenda Buhr-Gladkowski; two brothers-in-law, Raymond W. Jr. and Janice Gladkowski of Grant Park, Peter W. Gladkowski of Chicago; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Gladkowski of Worth; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his dog, “Kings.” He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna E. and Raymond W. Gladkowski Sr. Kevin cherished his family; being a good father and husband was most important to him. He appreciated all kinds of music, especially Jazz, Reggae, and the Blues. He enjoyed football, golf, baseball, basketball, outdoor activities, bike rides, and cooking. His favorite cuisine was Cajun. Kevin was a movie buff and watched all kinds of movies. He was a passionate, positive, “glass ½ full” kind of guy. He put others first and he never complained, even during his illness. Kevin was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park and also attended services at Open Bible Center in Kankakee with his family. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012 until 9:00 p.m. at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais and from 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 , until the 11:00 a.m. funeral procession to Zion Lutheran Church; 11456 N. 11000 E. Rd., Grant Park. Rev. Cory Estby will officiate the service. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
