Visitation for Lawrence A. Benoit, 81, of Bourbonnais, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais.Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or the American Cancer Society.Mr. Benoit died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2004) at his home.He farmed in the St. George area and was a Realtor for Blanchette Real Estate.He was born Sept. 22, 1923 in Bourbonnais, the son of Horace and Lucie Breault Benoit.Surviving are his wife, the former Lorraine Paquette of Bourbonnais, whom he married Oct. 23, 1943 at St. George Church in St. George; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Larry and Pat (O'Reilly) Benoit of Hanover Park, Carl and Linda (Mussa) Benoit of Bourbonnais, Dean and Janice (Courville) Benoit and Ralph Benoit, all of Kankakee, and Ronald and Chris (Fortin) Benoit of Bourbonnais; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathleen (Benoit) and Robert Tetrault of Naples, Fla., Karen (Benoit) and Don Downs and Darlene Benoit, all of Bourbonnais, and Sharon (Benoit) and Frank Moreno of Elk Grove Village; 14 grandchildren, Christopher Benoit, Laura (Benoit) Gilleran, Tim and Janine (Benoit) Jastrabs, Joseph and Jamie (Wood) Benoit, Jeremiah Benoit, Margaret (Benoit) Bales, John Benoit, Wesley Benoit, Andre and Kerry Tetrault, Desiree Tetrault, Matthew and Grace Downs, Vanessa, Pierre and James Moreno; seven stepgrandchildren, Ann and Doug McDougall, Jeff and Angie (Mussa-Benoit) Landtiser, Chuck and Niki Mussa, Kim Mussa, Jessica Courville, Stephanie Courville, and Julie (Tetrault) and Matthew Fasano; six great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Mary Benoit of Bradley; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Alice Scheppler of Clifton, Estelle and Henry D'Orto Sr. of Athol, Mass., and Leona Worby of Bradley; and one sister-in-law, Glenna Benoit of Bradley.Two grandsons, Brandon Benoit and Michael Moreno; his parents; two brothers, Paul and Patrick Benoit; and three sisters, Isabelle Kanoski, Cecile Bertrand and Anna Mae McCue, are deceased.Mr. Benoit graduated from St. George High School in 1941.He was a member of the Illinois Sheriff's Association of Kankakee, a lifetime member of the X-Line Sportsman's Club, a member of the original Board of Directors of the Kankakee County H.I.A. from 1953-1989, the president for a number of years for the Holy Name Society of St. George Church and a member of the Moose Lodge of Bradley and Naples, Fla.His love of playing the organ filled the house with music.
