Lila Lee Pippin

Lila Lee Pippin, age 88, a lifelong resident of Kankakee, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 at her home. She was born on July 27, 1936, in Kankakee, the daughter of Howard S. and Lalon (Brand) Page. She married Gene A. Pippin on April 21, 1957 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Kankakee. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1997. Lila worked for 30 years at Shapiro Developmental Center as a tech/aide and retired in 1998. She also worked as a bus monitor for First Student Bus Company in Kankakee, and volunteered as was employed at Easter Seals of Mid-Eastern Illinois. Lila was an avid reader and loved puzzles and crocheting. She was a past member of Moments of Love Club, in which all members were collectors of Precious Moments figurines. Lila was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Women and was a past chairwoman of the Trinity United Methodist Church Sara Circle. Lila is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Callie Pippin of Huddleston, VA; one son-in-law, Robert McKay of St. Anne; two daughters, Sue Pippin of Manuel, TX and Patricia Garrett of Bourbonnais; 6 grandchildren, Patrick Dominguez and fiancée Noel Bebout of Bourbonnais, Brent and Brad McKay of St. Anne, Ellery (David) Armes of Vinton, VA, Arlen Pippin of Vinton, VA, and Christina Volkoff of Minot, ND; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Howard Page of Florida; one sister-in-law, Charmaine Page of Aurora, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two daughters, Linda McKay and Penny Volkoff; one grandson, Philip Dominguez; one great granddaughter, Isla Armes; four brothers; one sister; and one sister-in-law, Connie Page. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. Rev. Scott Henley will officiate the service. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
