Lorraine Benoit

Lorraine C. Benoit, 80, of Bourbonnais, died at home Tuesday (May 3, 2005). Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais, immediately following the Mass. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. Mrs. Benoit was born Oct. 18, 1924, in Rensselaer, Ind., the daughter of Oscar and Margaret Sheid Paquette. Her husband, Lawrence A. Benoit died Nov. 30, 2004. They were married Oct. 23, 1943 in St. George Church, Bourbonnais. She was a devoted farmer's housewife. Surviving are four daughters and their families, Kathleen (Benoit) and Robert Tetrault of Naples, Fla., grandchildren, Andre and Kerry Tetrault, Desiree Tetrault, stepgranddaughter, Julie (Tetrault) and Matthew Fasano, two step-great-grandchildren; Karen (Benoit) and Don Downs of Bourbonnais, grandchildren, Matthew Downs and Grace Downs, one great-grandchild; Sharon (Benoit) and Frank Moreno of Elk Grove Village, grandchildren, Vanessa, Pierre and James Moreno, one great-grandchild; and Darlene Benoit of Bourbonnais; five sons and their families, Larry and Pat (O'Reilly) Benoit of Hanover Park, grandchildren, Christopher Benoit, Laura (Benoit) Gilleran, Tim and Janine (Benoit) Jastrabs, three great-grandchildren; Carl and Linda (Mussa) Benoit of Deselm, grandchildren, Joseph and Jamie (Wood) Benoit, Jeremiah Benoit, Margaret (Benoit) Bales, John Benoit, one great-grandchild, stepgrandchildren, Ann and Doug McDougall, Jeff and Angie (Mussa-Benoit) Landtiser, Chuck and Niki Mussa, Kim Mussa, six step-great-grandchildren; Dean and Janice (Courville) Benoit of Kankakee, grandson, Wesley Benoit, stepgrandchildren, Jessica Courville and Stephanie Courville, one step-great-grandchild; Ralph Benoit of Kankakee; Ronald and Chris (Fortin) Benoit of Bourbonnais. Also surviving are five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Alice Scheppler of Clifton, Estelle and Henry D'Orto Sr. of Athol, Mass., Leona Worby, Glenna Benoit, Leonard and Mary Benoit, all of Bradley. Two grandsons, Brandon Benoit and Michael Moreno; her parents; two brothers, Virgil and Gerald Paquette; and one sister, Doris Statton, are deceased. Mrs. Benoit graduated from St. George High School in 1945. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne at St. George Catholic Church and Maternity BVM Church and a member of the Women of the Moose in Bradley. She loved crocheting, sewing and homemaking. She also was an active volunteer at St. George Grade School and enjoyed being a room mother for her children's holiday parties. Lorraine and her husband enjoyed traveling the country.
