Marion L. Burson, 82, of Kankakee, died Sunday (Oct. 2, 2005) at the Miller Center. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. Eastern Star service, at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, West Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Jim Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno or to the Aroma Park United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Mrs. Burson retired as a clerk in the collections department for the City of Kankakee. She was also a cashier for many years at Sears. She was born June 8, 1923, in Kankakee, the daughter of Raymond and Gladys Splear Meyers. She was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Orion Shrine of Jerusalem Social Club and a lifelong member of the Exline Sportsman's Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping and crafts. Surviving are her husband, Blaine D. Burson, whom she married Dec. 9, 1945, at Asbury United Methodist Church; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Lana Burson of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Trent Vimpeny of Herscher; one sister-in-law, Verda Meyers of Kankakee; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons; and two nieces. Deceased are one brother, Buzz Meyers; one grandson, Aaron Vimpeny; and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Fisher.
