Mary Martha Lambert

Mary Martha Lambert, 91, of Bourbonnais, passed away Saturday (March 29, 2014) at home on the family farm. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais, with Father Richard Pighini officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to Maternity BVM Parish. Mary Martha Lambert was born June 27, 1922, in Emington, the daughter of Andrew and Mary E. Doughan Louis. She married Orell Lambert on Dec. 2, 1943, at St. Patrick's Church in Dwight. Mrs. Lambert was a graduate of Gallagher Business College, was a bookkeeper for F.O. Savoie Co. in Kankakee. She farmed with her husband and family in Bourbonnais. She was also a graduate of Union Township Grade School and St. Paul's Catholic High School in Odell. Mary Martha was a member of Maternity BVM Parish, was a CND associate; officer and room mother for the Mother's Club/Parent Teacher's Association at Notre Dame Convent and Maternity BVM School in Bourbonnais. She was a member of the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society; Women of the Moose; and the Tuesday Book Review. Surviving are her husband, Orell, of Bourbonnais; 13 children, Mary Ann Lambert, Connie Lambert, Charles and Maureen Lambert, John Lambert, Kevin Lambert, all of Bourbonnais, Kathy Lambert, Monica and Randy How, all of Fort Collins, Colo., Tom and Joanne Lambert, of Kankakee, Jeff and Julie Lambert, of Clifton, Richard Lambert, of Boston, Mass., Annette Lambert, of Boerne, Texas, Beverly and Tony Novak, of Cape Coral, Fla., Laurie Lambert, of Madison, Wis.; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Helen and Dave Simpson, of Geneva, Bernard Lambert, of Bradley; two sisters-in-law, Madeline Roe and Margaret Bullock, both of Bradley; several nieces and nephews; four grandchildren, Christopher (Meghan) Lambert, Daughon (Christian) Fitzhugh, Ryan Lambert, Olivia How; and three great-grandchildren, Louis and Ellis Fitzhugh and Allison Lambert. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael Louis; and a sister, Teresa Fogarty. Mary Martha was a blessing to her family and friends. She was a peacemaker and had a listening heart. Her grandchildren loved making cookies with grandma. She loved to garden, dance to her big band Polka records and sing her Irish songs. Memorials may be made to Maternity B.V.M.
