Nancy A. Patterson

Nancy A. Patterson age 73 of Bourbonnais passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Northwestern Medical Center in McHenry. She was born on April 3, 1951, in Kankakee, the daughter of James Relton and Elah Mae (Finch) Robinson. Nancy married Wayne Patterson in 1971 in Kankakee, IL. Nancy enjoyed watching sports, particularly her Chicago Teams. A lifelong Cubs fan, she relished watching them win the World Series. Her son Michael and her watch the Bulls Three-peat together as well as the Bears as they shuffled their way to the Super Bowl. She loved playing games, especially cards. Whether it was Uno, SkipBo, Phases 10, or Solitary she enjoyed it all! But the game most played by her was Euchre. She would play for hours. Loser left the table…. winner stayed… and she rarely moved tables. But most of all, she loved children. Did not matter the age or stage she lived to make them laugh and giggle. She adored them all. Playing whatever their hearts desired. She loved them. She took great pride and joy in her family. But family was not just defined by blood, if she cared about you… you were family. She worried about you, she wanted to know how you were doing and if you hurt, she hurt for you. She loved wholeheartedly, fiercely, and unapologetically. She had an independent spirit and was not afraid to tell you what she was thinking. She would do just about anything for her “family” and often did. She adored her grandchildren and lit up when she heard their voices or saw them. It was this love that gave her strength to preserve through unyielding pain. She needed to be there for everyone and would not let you worry for her. The hole the loss of her presence has left will be a void felt by many. Surviving is her husband, Wayne of Bourbonnais; one son Michael Patterson of Wonder Lake; three brothers, Ray (Mary) Robinson of Bradley, Jerry Robinson of Limestone, Terry (Jeanette) Robinson of Crown Point, IN; two grandchildren, Corrine Lou Patterson and Ethan Michael Patterson. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Robinson; and one sister-in-law, Jackie Robinson. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Inurnment will be on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Memorials may be made to Family Wishes.
