Paul F Hogan

Paul F. Hogan, age 75, of Kankakee, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home with his loved ones by his side. He was born June 29, 1950, in New York, NY, the son of Michael & Aileen (Whitty) Hogan. On June 1, 1974, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Diane Granger, at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church. They often laughed about how a city boy from New York fell for a farm girl from a small town. Paul graduated from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School in 1969. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he proudly served for six years. Paul was a master tradesman and always took great pride in his work. For the last 17 years, he served as Head of Grounds and Maintenance at Maternity B.V.M. where his skill, knowledge, and attention to detail helped maintain, renovate, and remodel many areas of the church, inside and outside. In his early days prior to working at Maternity, his self-taught skills and artistic abilities opened the door to many opportunities. He owned several custom paint, detail, and auto body shops, including American Customs and Kustom Unlimited. This sparked his love of auto-racing, classic cars, and participation in various car show competitions where numerous best in show awards, 1st place prizes, and trophies were won for his ‘67 Chevelle. With his constant desire to learn, Paul later shifted his focus to carpentry. He began by installing kitchen cabinets and countertops and eventually owning and operating Hogan’s Floor Covering where he specialized in the installation of carpet, vinyl, tile, and hardwood floors. When Paul wasn’t working, he cherished spending time with his family and his dogs. He looked forward to Friday pizza night and could often be found in his recliner enjoying a good movie with popcorn, an old western, or a ballgame. Paul enthusiastically rooted for the Dodgers from his days growing up in Brooklyn, the Bulls, Blackhawks, White Sox, and sometimes even the Bears. He was always interested in rockets, NASA, and anything outer space related. He also loved spending time outside maintaining his yard, washing and detailing the cars, and making sure everything around him was in perfect working order. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Diane Hogan of Kankakee; proud father of one daughter, Kelly Hogan (Nicholas Sadler) of Chebanse; one son, Sean (Deanna) Hogan of Braidwood; step granddaughter, Brodie Thompson of Coal City; one sister, Barbara Mencke of Ontario, Canada; one brother, Michael (MaryEllen) Hogan of Washington State; He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Chester (Marie) Granger; two brothers, Gerald and Frank Hogan; and one sister, Joan Hogan. Paul will be lovingly remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication as a provider for his family, his fun-loving kindness, his contagious laughter, and for being the occasional prankster. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais. Funeral Mass to immediately follow for all those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
