Theresa "Grandma T" Belle Demers

Theresa “Grandma T” Belle Demers, age 87, of St. Anne, was called home on Sunday, November 8, 2015 to be with the Lord. She was born April 9, 1928 in Aroma Park, the daughter of Lawrence & Josephine Brown Merino. Theresa married Leo H. Demers July 9, 1949 at St. Anne Catholic Church in St. Anne. She was a Certified Dental Assistant for 35 years and was in Sales at JC Penney for 20 years. Theresa loved to travel and visited all 50 states, Canada, and Europe. Theresa was an avid volunteer and was a member of: St. Anne Catholic Church Ladies Auxiliary, St. Anne Academy Mother Club, American Legion Auxiliary Post 842, Home Extension of Kankakee, Loyal Order of the Moose in Kankakee, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Ladies Auxiliary, USS Conway Veteran Association, the VFW of Bradley, and Community Organizer of the St. Anne Memorial Day event. Surviving are her husband, Leo Demers of St. Anne; three daughters and one son-in-law, Robin Rapp of Palos Park, Rosalie Wylie of Coal City, and Mary & Mike Wakeley of Ottawa; one son and two daughters-in-law, Dan & Sue Demers of Bourbonnais, Kim Demers of Woodridge; one sister, Dorothy Boudreau of Bourbonnais; one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence & Toni Merino of Milton, FL; nine grandchildren, Michael J. Rapp, Melissa L. (Rapp) Kud, Jill M. (Demers) DeBrouckere, Stacy L. (Demers) Bussian, Jason E. Demers, Sarah A. Demers, Ashley V. Demers, Brittany M. (Wakeley) Goetsch, and Danielle M. Wakeley; two step grandchildren Brittany Mikolite and Joshua Mikolite; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Rapp, Gianna Kud, Aubrey Kud, Kayla Kud, Niels DeBrouckere, Ian DeBrouckere, Laney Bussian, and Maddy Bussian. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert; two sisters, Mary, Janet; one son, Scott A. Demers; one son-in-law, John W. Wylie; and one great-grandson, Jacob E. Rapp. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne. Visitation will also be held from 10am at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home until the funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church. The Rev. James Fanale will celebrate the mass. Interment will follow at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bishop McNamara or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
