Rosemarie C. Whittiemore

Rosemarie C. Whittiemore, age 80, formerly of Bradley, passed away peacefully with family beside her on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, IL after a sudden illness. She was born May 25, 1945 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Cammiso. She was the youngest of their five children. Rosemarie is preceded in death by her parents, youngest daughter Kimberly McGowen-Coughlin, former husband Winston Whittiemore, brother-in-law Gustave Gloede, sister-in-law Catherine Cammiso, and nephew Joseph Cammiso. She was a retired United Auto Worker. Rose’s retirement was full of many pursuits which included watching her grandchildren Hannah and Will grow up, and her newest joy, great grandson, Callan. Always having a passion for animals, over the years, Rose enjoyed obedience training her many Doberman Pinschers, raising and showing Arabian horses, owned numerous cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, ducks, fish and would attempt to rescue any critter that she came in contact with. Rose also had a passion for creating art and completed several art courses at Kankakee Community College. Caring for her yard and garden was a very fulfilling pastime. She was proud to share the surplus from her garden with family, neighbors, and friends. During her retirement, she stayed active at the Kankakee YMCA where she enjoyed many friendships in addition to swimming nearly daily. Loving the outdoors, Rose walked her dogs countless miles at the Perry Farm and went fishing whenever she had the opportunity. The last couple years of her life, Rose lived at the Riverside Senior Life Communities where she enjoyed companionship of friends, many activities, and the care of wonderful nurses and staff members. Rosemarie will be greatly missed by her daughter Dawn (Clyde) Dayhoff, granddaughter Hannah (Connor) Maloney and grandson Clyde “Will” Dayhoff III (Hannah Pepin), and great grandson Callan Maloney. Her siblings Louis Cammiso, Sharon (Walter) Bieniek, Mary Gloede, and Joseph (Kathleen) Cammiso survive her along with many nieces and nephews and their families. Her beloved Doberman Pinscher, Abigail, resides with Rose’s daughter Dawn and her husband Clyde. Visitation will be Saturday, August 23 from 9am-11am with an 11am service at the Clancy Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, IL. Private burial will take place on Monday, August 25 at Calvary Cemetery in Steger, IL adjacent to her daughter Kimberly. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kankakee Area YMCA, St Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, or Uplifted Care.
