Soledad "Chols" Lim Miguel

Soledad "Chols" Lim Miguel, age 93, of Bourbonnais passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. She was born November 11,1928 in Tarlac City, Philippines, the daughter of Rufino & Leonila (Macaalay) Lim. Soledad married Nemesio “Neming” Sequina Miguel on September 14, 1953. They shared almost 62 years together before he preceded her in death on May 25, 2015. Soledad graduated from the University of Santo Tomas as a Physician and practiced in the Philippines. When she arrived in the United States, her time was spent raising her five children. She was a devout Catholic and a strong role model for her family due to her faith, spiritual love and religious beliefs. Soledad and her husband loved to travel the world, but visiting family was their greatest enjoyment. She was an outstanding chef and was known for her gracious hospitality. She was an avid reader, collector of fine art, loved music and gardening. She was the eldest of ten children and the matriarch of the family. More importantly, Soledad was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was well loved beyond measure. Surviving are two sons; Nemesio Jr. (Amelia) Miguel of St. Charles and children: Marie Andrea (Joseph Kahn), Mitchell (Alexandra) with daughter Uma Mirabelle and another on the way, and May Florence; son Nestor (Ofelia) Miguel of Aurora and children: Melvin, Bryan, and Justin. Three daughters; Maria (Joel) Villegas of Bourbonnais and dogs: Bailey, Mickey, Charlie; daughter Susan (Mark) Rettig of East Peoria and children: Michael, Marissa, and Matthew; daughter Sandra (Darren) Krahn of Peoria. Siblings and in-laws; Amelia Lim, Peter DeMarco, Julietta Lim, Rosalie Lim, Evelyn (Lito) Fajardo, and Harriette (Estefanio) Gacad and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Soledad is preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Consorcia & Celestino Jamie, Georgia & Dencio Ocampo, Fernando Lim, Loreta DeMarco, Joseph Lim, Corazon & Flaviano Arzaga, and Eduardo Flamenco. She was a blessing to all who knew her and the loss of her in our lives will be great. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded following the services with internment in St. Louis, Missouri in May 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Uplifted Care.
