Betty Jean Corbett

Betty Jean (Davis) Corbett, age 84, of Bourbonnais, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 23, 1938 in Kankakee, the daughter of Thomas & Dorothy (Legg) Davis and step-father, Elmo Clodi. Betty married Gary E. Corbett on August 3, 1957 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. In 1956, Betty graduated from Kankakee High School and also reigned Miss Merry Christmas for Kankakee County. After raising her children, she joined Farm & Fleet and made lifetime friends while working there for 11 years until her retirement. Betty raised 5 children and was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. She supported and followed her children and grandchildren through their sporting endeavors. Betty loved being a Chicago Bear and Chicago Cub fan. She enjoyed reading, flowers, shopping, music, and dancing. She loved family gatherings and adored her grandchildren. Betty was a former member of the Moose Lodge. She was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Rose of Lima Chapel in Kankakee and Maternity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Bourbonnais. Surviving are her husband, Gary Corbett of Bourbonnais; two daughters, Joni Corbett of Bourbonnais and Debra (Walter) Wall of Bourbonnais; two sons, Michael (Laura) Corbett of St. Anne and Gary Corbett of Manteno; her grandchildren, Paige Corbett, Ian Corbett, Ryan (Nicole) Wall, Alex Wall, and Stephanie (Steve) Lowman; her great-grandchildren, Noah Benakovich, Aiden Corbett, Ellie Wall, Sadie Wall, McKenzie Wall, Steven Lowman Jr., and Jayde Lowman; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Sandra Draper and Tom & Alice McVey; one auntie, Jeanette Gierden; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra VanWinkle of Galesburg and Sharan Davis of Bradley. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Elmo Clodi; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen & Connie Corbett; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert & Jean Davis, James Davis, and Joan Caldwell; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen & Lorraine Corbett. Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, also at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima Chapel in Kankakee. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral Mass.
