Betty Ann Osenga

Betty Ann Osenga, 93, peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior, April 24, 2026, at The Bourbonnais Grove, where she lived the last five years. She was born on July 4, 1932, in Richie, Illinois, to Melvin and Gladys Kirchner. She married Clifford (Yogi) Eugene Osenga on November 5, 1950, in Bonfield, IL. He preceded her to Heaven on November 29, 2018. They lived in the Kankakee area all of their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Wayne Osenga, her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ester Kirchner, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Betty Ann attended Reddick High School and got her LPN degree in 1965. She served as a nurse at Pediatrics Ltd., Dr. David Hegg Medical Practice, and as a nurse at the Kankakee County Health Department. She was known as “The Shot Lady” by many! She served in the Riverside Medical Auxiliary as a lifetime member and was a member of the College Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by two sons, David (Donna) Osenga, of Normal, IL, and Mark Osenga (Luvin Ariza) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and daughter-in-law, Mila Osenga of Miami, FL, grandchildren, Andrew (Alison) Osenga, Nashville, TN, Robert (Candice) Osenga, Normal, IL, Donna Carriedo (Kyle) of Miami, FL, and Mary Beth Ray(Elliot) of Colorado Springs, CO. She has 12 great grandchildren, Ella, Sadie, Charlotte, Kelsey, Reece and Graham Osenga, Anthony, Breanah, Brandon and Alyanna Carriedo, Nevaeh and Isaiah Ray. She is also survived by sisters Doris (Robert) Williamson, of The Villages, FL, and Mary Lynne (Dale) Schroeder, of Walla Walla, WA, and one sister-in-law, Beverly Pellitier, of Elkhart, IN, plus many nieces and nephews. Betty Ann loved taking care of “her Little Ones” for so many years. They include family members, many friends, and then their children. There were so many that were near and dear to her heart, that we are not able to list them all here. She also was honored to serve 17 years in the Crib Nursery at the First Church of the Nazarene. She served in the Riverside Medical Auxiliary as a lifetime member. Over the years, she knitted, crocheted, sewed and baked many gifts that she then gave to her Little Ones and those who were in need of comfort. She and Yogi traveled to many places, hosted many family gatherings and birthday parties at their homes by the Kankakee River, on the Warner Bridge Road, and their condo at Trotters Chase in Bourbonnais. A visitation is planned for 2:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, 295 Main St NW, Bourbonnais, IL. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, May 4, at the College Church of the Nazarene, 200 University Ave., Bourbonnais, IL, with visitation the hour before the service with Pastors Mark Quanstrom and Jen Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens after the service. Memorials can be made in her name to College Church of the Nazarene or UpliftedCare. The family is very appreciative of the kind and loving care given to Mom by the staff at The Bourbonnais Grove and UpliftedCare.
