Beverly J. Green

Beverly J. Green, age 75, of Bonfield passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. She was born January 21, 1948 in Elliotville, OH, the daughter of Charles Gilkey & Juanita (Gilkey) Young. Bev married Tom Green on June 7, 1969 in Winchester, VA. Bev lived a very active life. She held many jobs throughout her years including fast-food service, custodian at Open Bible Church, housekeeping services in nursing homes, secretarial jobs and most recently driving a school bus for Bourbonnais School District. Bev enjoyed many hobbies such as, flower gardening, crafts, traveling, and her antique booth at Indian Oaks Antique Mall. Most of all, she enjoyed decorating - home interiors, special events, holidays, and weddings were among her favorites. Bev loved babies and children. She had been a foster mother for several years and was known to many as Baby-sitter Bev. Bev was a member of the Gathering Point in Bourbonnais. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Tom Green of Bonfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lori & Jay Medalis of Orland Park, Keri & Tim Horn of Bourbonnais, and Jeni Corneal of FL; her mother, Juanita Young of The Plains, OH; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Bill Kerr of Albany, OH; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike & Sherry Gilkey of McClure, PA; nine grandchildren, Isaiah (Molly) Green, Lydia Corneal, Joe Corneal, Isabelle Horn (fiancé, Jacob Marshall), Gabrielle Horn (fiancé, Said Korajkic), Payton Medalis, Rayna Medalis, Tessa Medalis, and Parker Corneal; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Green. Bev is preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Wayne Gilkey and Nick Gilkey; and one sister, Rita Jones. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, also at the funeral home. Congregational Care Pastor Dane Mathews will officiate the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in remembrance of Bev.
