Gregory "Greg" Klonowski

Gregory “Greg” Klonowski, age 66, of Bourbonnais passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his home of a sudden illness. He was born March 4, 1959 in Kankakee, the son of Joseph & Shirley (Goudreau) Klonowski. Greg married Patrice “Patty” Norman in 2007 in Jamaica. Greg worked at the Public Works Department, Village of Bourbonnais, for 32 years where he served as a group leader. He was a 1977 graduate of Bishop McNamara High School, where he played football and baseball. He later went on to coach baseball. He loved to travel with his wife and was a great travel companion. Greg was always doing projects and home improvements around the house. If he didn’t know how to do something, he learned. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and start a conversation with anyone. Greg was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan, a big Chicago Bears fan, and liked the Chicago White Sox, but cheered for the Chicago Cubs with his wife. Most of all, Greg loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren who called him “Popeye”. Surviving are his wife, Patty Klonowski of Bourbonnais; his children, Blake (Amanda) Klonowski of Bloomington, Kody Klonowski of Tampa, FL, Shelby (Ray) Gilbert of Bourbonnais, Sydney Klonowski (Alyssa Dillow) of Chicago, Tristan Ruch (Anika Davick) of Madison, WI, and Noah Ruch (Annabel Lovell) of Indianapolis, IN; one stepson, Monet (Morgan) Duval of Flagstaff, AZ; one sister, Carol Porter of Bourbonnais; three brothers, Leonard (Debbie) Klonowski of Homer Glen, and Mark (Dawn) Klonowski and Tom Klonowski (Dawn Erwin), all of Bourbonnais; seven grandchildren, Lilah, Grayson, Grant, Gwen, Lacy, Kai, and Clara; aunts and uncles, Jerome (Pat) Klonowski of Kankakee, Mike (Sherri) Furrow of Bourbonnais, and Mary Reid Loiselle of Gilbert, AZ; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Norman of Bradley, Tom (Cheryl) Norman of Kankakee, Steve (Samantha) Norman of Manteno, Mary Jo Norman-DeSelm (Steve DeSelm) of Bourbonnais, and Nancy (Bruce)Guimond of Limestone; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Kaner. Greg is preceded in death by his parents and one stepson, Alexander Duval. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, also at the funeral home. Deacon Patrick Skelly will officiate the service. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to the family wishes or donor’s choice.
