Marilyn K Pfeiffer

Marilyn K. Pfeiffer, age 77, of Bonfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Born at home on October 1, 1948, in Manteno, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of Wilbur and Cecelia (Grzegorek) Monk. She married Dale Pfeiffer, on October 21, 1972, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. Marilyn dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a registered nurse at Westwood OB in Kankakee and later worked as a teacher's aide at Limestone Middle School, where she was known for her patience, gentle encouragement, and the genuine care she showed every student. Whether caring for patients, helping children learn, or supporting those she loved, Marilyn's kindness and compassionate heart touched the lives of many. A woman of deep faith, Marilyn was an active member of the CCW and taught CCD at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Goodrich. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—tending her garden, especially her pumpkins and beautiful sunflowers, cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs, and making every holiday feel magical for her family. More than anything, Marilyn treasured her family. Whether it was a ballgame, school concert, recital, or any special milestone, Marilyn could almost always be found in the crowd, proudly cheering on her grandchildren. Creating cherished memories and making every holiday feel special was one of her greatest gifts. Marilyn was a devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Goodrich. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Dale of Bonfield; her children, Jason Pfeiffer, Abby (Tim) Allen, and Jordan (Adam) Reed; her sister, Audrey (Harvey) Mallard; her sister-in-law, Norma Monk; and her eight beloved grandchildren: Preston Pfeiffer, Braedon Pfeiffer, Quenton Pfeiffer, Alyssa Pfeiffer, Annabelle Allen, Amelia Allen, Micah Reed, and Vera Reed. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Zeb Pfeiffer, whose memory she carried in her heart every day; her parents, Wilbur and Cecelia Monk; and her brother, Jerry Monk. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church in Irwin, Illinois, with Reverend Peter G. Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Shop with a Cop. The family would like to thank everyone for the love, prayers, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time. Marilyn's warmth, compassion, unwavering faith, and unconditional love for her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
