Pearl Olsen Brown

Visitation for Pearl Brown (formerly Pearl Olsen), 91, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kankakee. Father John Peeters will officiate. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to St. Patrick Catholic Church. She passed away Monday (Nov. 25, 2013) at her home. Mrs. Brown worked at Bear Brand Hosiery and Howard Johnson's. She was born Jan. 13, 1922, the daughter of Gerluf and Lula Seversen Olsen. Surviving are her husband, Richard "Dick" Brown, of Kankakee, whom she married March 2, 1946, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kankakee; three sons, Larry (Marianne) Brown, of Carol Stream, Barton Brown, of Richland, Mich., and Dale Brown, of Kankakee; two daughters, Carol (Jim) Tolzien, and Maryann (Denny) Wright, both of Davie, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, Christina O'Connor, Lori Mashal, Cari Davidson, Dan, Katelyn and Emily Tolzien, Jackie, Abbey, Jimmy, Brian "Boomer," Tim and Becky Brown, Amy Cradock, Jill Narrett, Erik and Erin Wright and Bobby Kaczanowski; 16 great-grandchildren, Megan and Mallory O'Connor, Michael O'Connor, Joseph and Isabella Mashal, Lucas and Savannah Tolzien, Nina Klein, Connor, Rory, Cameron and Cullen Cradock, Cailin Brown, Lily Wright, Tanner Voss and Mackenzie; one sister, Blanch Carpenter, of Astor, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Charles "Pat" (Martha) Brown, of Lincoln, Neb.; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Marie Olsen, of Sugar Land, Texas, and Marilyn Narrett, of Kankakee. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Alvin Olsen; four brothers-in-law, John, Bernard and Ed Brown, and Tom Carpenter; and one sister-in-law, Norma Brown. Pearl had a giving, sweet heart. Everyone was blessed to have her in their lives. She enjoyed playing euchre and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
