Robert G. Hines

Visitation for Robert G. "Bob" Hines, 72, of St. Anne, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, and from 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kankakee, until the 11 a.m. funeral services. Pastor Christopher Sheets will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Aroma Township. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the family wishes. He died Monday (July 23, 2012) at his home. Mr. Hines was a 12-year employee of Roper Corp., Kankakee Division, and retired from Kraft General Foods Promotional Services Center after 30 years as maintenance supervisor. He was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Kankakee, the son of Henry and Caroline Smith Hines. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Herscher High School Class of 1957, where he picked up the nickname "Slim." He was a member of the Herscher FFA and loved showing cows. He attended Geneva Electric Vehicle School, Brandt Machines School and the University of Illinois for supervisor management. He was a member of the Kankakee Management Club, honorary member of Retail Clerks 1504, Brotherhood of Boilermakers 1618, Ironship Builders and Blacksmiths, and the Good Sam Club. He was a past Boy Scout/Webelos leader of Pack 319. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed traveling, camping, snowmobiling, flea marketing, farming with his brother, hunting and fishing. His "hobby" was watching, protecting and feeding the birds, squirrels and rabbits at home. Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Styck, of St. Anne, whom he married Sept. 28, 1957, in Herscher; two sons, David Hines, of Bourbonnais, and Doug Hines, of St. Anne; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Dale Papineau, of St. Anne; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Bruce (MaryAnn) Styck, and Hank (Wanda) Styck; two sisters-in-law, Linda Hines and Ruth Styck; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Etta Styck; one son, Danny Hines; one grandson, D.J. Papineau; one brother, Bill Hines; two sisters, Hilda (Vernon) Hale, and Evelyn Hines; brother-in-law, Les Styck; and his beloved dog Sparky Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church - www.stpaulslutheran.net/ or for family wishes
